Ms. Robert's Biography

By Rawan A.

Mrs. Roberts is a speech teacher. She likes to teach kids to listen and kids to talk better. Mrs. Roberts has taught at Mitchell for 7 months. Mrs. Roberts grew up in Gardner, Massachusetts. When she was a kid she liked to read books, play with friends, watch movies and play outside. Mrs. Roberts is married and has 3 dogs and 1 lizard. Mrs. Roberts makes Mitchell special because she is really nice and she helps kids learn.

As part of the second grade writing curriculum, Ms. Padgen’s class completed a non-fiction writing unit focused on writing biographies about the Mitchell Staff.   This project, led by Ms. Sala, a U-M teaching intern, gave students an opportunity to practice these skills by developing interview questions, conducting and recording interviews, and returning to the recorded interviews to gather information for writing.

We are excited to present these biographies as a part of the Mitchell School website so everyone could learn more about the great people we have at Mitchell.  This means our non-fiction writing has a real audience and student work is connected to a real-world purpose!   We hope you enjoy learning about the Mitchell staff.
