The Welcome Back Picnic tonight was fabulous!  Parents (and extended families) loved it and loved connecting with you....and told me all about it as they were leaving.

To me, it felt like I was part of our big, wonderful school community family.  It was great to reconnect with everyone.

Rec&Ed After School Classes @ Mitchell

This fall, Rec&Ed is offering a two high quality, affordable after school classes at Mitchell! Classes include the Little Bands Guitar class as well as the Obstacle Dash. These new classes are the result of the parent survey regarding After School Classes that we conducted last spring. Online registration is easy via this website: http://activenet.active.com/AARecEd.

The Rec&Ed Fall Catalog will be distributed the week of August 25th.  Enroll today to ensure a space for your child and that the classes will run at your school

The Obstacle Dash program, which was piloted at Mitchell last spring, is for boys on Tuesdays and girls on Thursdays. In this active program kids hop, run, and crawl through a variety of indoor and outdoor obstacle courses and enjoy a healthy snack!  Don’t let your child miss out – additional scholarships are available for this program.

Welcome Back Picnic - Classroom Assignments - Wednesday, August 28 - 6 PM

We hope all families will come to Mitchell on Wednesday, August 28  from 6 – 8 PM to receive their teacher assignment for the school year. 

The picnic is also the time to bring back your child's Think Stretch workbook and summer reading log! They will be collected at the picnic!

In addition, our wonderful Mitchell School PTO has organized a pot luck dinner and asks you to participate. The PTO will provide hot dogs and paper products.  All families are welcome to attend. 

Please bring a dish to share as follows, but it is not mandatory to stick to your assigned category.

·    Kindergarten Families – Salad

·    First Grade Families – Appetizer

·    2^nd Grade Families – Vegetable side dish

·    3^rd Grade Famlies – Fruit

·    4^th Grade Families – Chips/Pretzels, etc

·    5^th Grade Families – Dessert

"4.2.1    Smoking, chewing, or other use of tobacco products of any kind is prohibited at all times."

750.473 Use of tobacco product on school property prohibited; violation as misdemeanor

 (b) "School property" means a building, facility, or structure and other real estate owned, leased, or otherwise controlled by a school district.

(c) "Tobacco product" means a preparation of tobacco to be inhaled, chewed, or placed in a person's mouth.

Violation of the above can result in issuance of a criminal citation, and progressive disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

School Office Open

The Mitchell School office is open now for fall registrations and parent inquiries. The office is open Monday - Friday, 8 - 4:30 PM.
