From Mrs. Koenig . . .
Dear Mitchell Families:
It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I will be leaving
Mitchell School this June. I have had 21 years of music with your
children (and some of you, too!), providing me with a lifetime of
joyous memories. I will be taking some time off and then returning to
teach in Ann Arbor part time.
In 1991, my first year at Mitchell, Gayle Richardson, who was
teaching 5th grade, came and asked me if I'd be interested in putting
on a show. Our first production was "Let George Do It!" a musical
about the American Revolution. The shows have gone on and on ever
since. It has been such a great pleasure to see your children bloom
on our stage: they have sung beautifully, spoken with clarity and
stage presence, and learned to feel the pride of a job well done.
Families have listened to my CDs over and over, have given support to
children's practice, and have come to cheer them on with a gusto that
I will deeply miss.
In 2001, as Linda Hagan and I were planning a third and fourth grade
show, she suggested I write a Mitchell School Song. The fourth
graders and I wrote that song 11 years ago and it has become the
signature of our singing school, part of the community spirit that
makes Mitchell so special.
I want to give special thanks to the Mitchell PTO for their
extraordinary support. Every year the PTO puts music at the top of
its priorities by sending our students to world class performances
presented by the University Musical Society, Wild Swan Theater and the
Ann Arbor Symphony. That support has given the children the golden
opportunity to experience the broader world of the arts in live
performance. And, last, but not least, getting to know such
wonderful, vibrant children and families has been my deepest honor and
pleasure. I will miss you all.
Please come say good bye. There are several evening concerts
remaining, plus I will be at the ice cream social.

Queridos Mitchell Familias:
Es con una mezcla de emociones que anunciar que voy a dejar
Mitchell Escuela de junio de este año. He tenido 21 años de música con su
los niños (y algunos de ustedes, también!), me proporciona una vida útil de
recuerdos alegres. Voy a tomar un descanso y luego regresar a
enseñar en tiempo de Ann Arbor parte.
En 1991, mi primer año en Mitchell, Gayle Richardson, quien fue
