BrainFreeze!
Mitchell students will be bringing home a BrainFreeze packet on 12/22. This is a great way for kids to stay engaged in reading and math over the winter break. You'll notice there are opportunities for students to practice their math facts and log the number of minutes they spend reading. They can log the minutes using the books they chose from the used book give away!
Pajama Day - December 22
The Mitchell School Student Council has decided to host pajama day on Thursday, December 22! All students who would like to wear their pajama's to school this day are welcome to do so. Please remember, students will still have outdoor recess so don't forget the winter weather gear.
Thank You!
Thank you to the Mitchell PTO and all Mitchell parents for the potluck luncheon this past Wednesday. The food was great! We are all thankful to be part of this wonderful community.

International Baccalaureate Update – From Mrs. Rothman
Students are learning about the Learner Profile in their classrooms in many ways. This week in Kindergarten, students are learning about their own personal growth and development. Students are collecting memories from their lives at home, and learning about sharing these memories with others. The Learner Profile attributes for this Kindergarten unit are reflective and communicator. During this Unit of Inquiry, students are being reflective about their experiences and are communicating what changes they see during their own growth.
Mitchell School Used Book Give Away
One of our goals here at Mitchell School is that all students will spend time reading each day at home! This extra reading practice helps children develop as readers and develop an enjoyment for reading. To achieve this goal, we give away gently used books before winter break, spring break and summer break. Our winter break book give away is coming up the week of December 19.
Please know that all Mitchell School students will have the opportunity to choose a free book to add to their at home reading libraries. It is important that students continue to read during the winter break. After your child reads his or her book some questions you might ask your child are, "What was the problem in the story?" "How was the problem solved?" and/or "What did you learn from the book?" This opportunity is made possible through our partnership with the Children's Literacy Network.
Winter Weather is Here!
As we move into winter weather, children will continue to have recess and be outside. Please send your child to school with the appropriate coat, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots. We will be sure to have them wear it!
Late Student Arrivals
We are noticing many children arriving late to school. As a friendly reminder, school starts at 8:47 AM. You can drop your children off as early as 8:35 AM. It's important that children are here on time. Thank you for your help!
