Tenemos una semana de mucho trabajo y medio por venir. Éstos son los aspectos más destacados:
Miércoles - 30 ene - recoger sus kits de pizza desde 3:30-6 p.m. en el salón de maestros. Todos los kits deben ser recogidos el miércoles, ya que no tenemos espacio en el congelador para almacenar los elementos.

On days when the temperature and/or wind chill are below 0ºF: Students will not have recess outside
On days when the temperature and/or wind chill are below -20ºF (20 below zero): Schools will be closed

Who is John McLaughlin Williams?
Conductor John McLaughlin Williams has been critically acclaimed for his outstanding interpretive abilities and engaging podium presence. In 2007, he received a Grammy for Conducting, becoming the first African American conductor to be awarded a Grammy.
Williams' conducting experience includes work with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and The Boston Lyric Opera/Opera New England, just to name a few.
Williams is an active violin soloist, pianist, and chamber musician. At age 14 he appeared as violin soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra. More recently, he was a member of the Houston Symphony, Concertmaster of the Virginia Symphony, and has appeared as violin soloist with many orchestras, including the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Also active as a composer/arranger, Williams has written string arrangements and performed with Bruce Hornsby's Harbor Lights (BMG), and music for the sound track to Mr. Dreyfus Goes to Washington, a documentary for The History Channel. Williams is also known for his advocacy of African American and minority composers, and has given premier performances of the works of William Grant Still.
Who is Celeste Headlee?
Celeste Headlee is host of several NPR programs, and former co-host of Public Radio International's The Takeaway, where she brings to her roles over a decade of on-and off-air experience in both local and national public radio productions.
Most recently, Headlee was the Midwest Correspondent for NPR's Day to Day, covering everything from the auto industry to art. From 2001-2006, Headlee was a reporter at public radio station WDET Detroit. Previously, she was the local Morning Edition anchor at public radio station KNAU in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her news reports have aired on NPR, the Pacifica Network, National Native News and Public Radio International. She has also reported for the Detroit News. Her work has been honored with multiple awards from the Michigan Chapter of the Associated Press, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and the Metro Detroit Society of Professional Journalists.
In addition to her journalistic background, Headlee is a classically trained soprano who has performed at the Michigan Opera Theater and various recitals around the country. She has contributed pieces to Chamber Music magazine, and is the granddaughter of "The Dean of African American composers," William Grant Still.
Headlee holds a bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University and a Master's in Music from the University of Michigan. She lives in New Jersey.

night that will help parents to understand more about how writing is taught at
Mitchell School. All families should attend this workshop at least one

I want to recognize several donations made this past fall to Mitchell School from our greater community in support of a variety of school needs.

- Jean Karr (Mr. Karr's mom) for her support of the Mitchell noon hour program and 34 new board games used during indoor noon hour;
- James and Edna Mae Caris (Mr. Karr's father and mother-in-law) for their donation supporting needed school supplies as we go through the second half of this school year;
- An anonymous donation of $1000 (Wow! - Thank you!) for general support and school improvement initiatives;
- Bethel A.M.E. of Ann Arbor, a local church, for donating $525 to the Mitchell School fifth grade camp fund;
