The Mitchell Student Council is excited to announce the next Spirit
Day. Friday, February 10 will be Pajama and Stuffed Animal Day at
Mitchell. Students may come to school wearing pajamas/robe and
carrying a stuffed animal for the day. Extra stuffed animals will be
available. Please note that students still need to wear appropriate
school footwear...gym shoes if necessary and boots for outside.

New And Used Book Fair - Feb. 8 - 10
We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair. Join your child for lunch and take a look at the great selection of books. Or Join us for Movie Night on Feb 10. The Book Fair will be open for a little while during Movie Night.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED- If you are able to work at all from 9-6 any of the fair days, please email or signup on the PTO Bulletin Board
NOTE: We will be having a Used Book Sale at the same time as the Book Fair. Please donate some old gently used books that you no longer need. Donations can be put in the PTO Mailbox for collection.

NWEA
El pasado otoño, los estudiantes de Ann Arbor tomaron las pruebas llamadas Evaluación Educativa del Noroeste (Northwest Educational Assessment, NWEA). Los estudiantes tomaran las pruebas nuevamente en enero y una vez más a fines del año escolar. Los resultados de estas pruebas son utilizados por los maestros para entender el progreso académico de sus estudiantes y para saber en qué áreas lo estudiantes necesitan más práctica.
En caso de que no supieran, NWEA tiene también “Herramientas para los Padres (Parent Toolkit)” en las cuales se explica el proceso de evaluación, y provee lugares en el internet para que los niños puedan practicar. Las herramientas para los padres pueden ser encontrados en la siguiente dirección del internet. http://www.aaps.k12.mi.us/ins.technology/nwea
Si desea obtener una copia impresa de las herramientas para los padres, por favor llame a la oficina de la escuela y le enviaremos una copia a su hogar.

NWEA
In the fall of this school year, students in Ann Arbor took a test call the Northwest Educational Assessment (NWEA). They will take the test again in January and once more at the end of the school year. The results of the test are used by teachers to understand the growth a student has made as well as areas the student needs additional practice.
In case you didn’t know, NWEA also has a “Parent Toolkit” that explains the assessment as well as provides websites for children to use for additional practice. The toolkit can be found at the following link: http://www.aaps.k12.mi.us/ins.technology/nwea
If you would like a printed copy of the toolkit, please call the school office and we’ll send a copy home.
